These photographs were taken in the once beautiful country town of Marysville, Victoria, seven months after the devastation of the Black Saturday bushfires on February 7th 2009. The images document the destructive nature of the bushfires that killed 34 residents and wiped out the vast majority of buildings in the town. They also highlight the beginning of the long recovery process that is still ongoing today.
